ISRAEL/PALESTINE

The Israeli government’s unrelenting bombing of Gaza has to date killed more than 32,000 Palestinians, displaced almost 2 million people, and has caused widespread disease and starvation.  We believe in an immediate and permanent ceasefire that brings an end to the collective punishment of Palestinians, and allows humanitarian aid to once again enter Gaza.

In addition, we call for an end to Israel’s 56-year military occupation of the West Bank, its blockade of Gaza since 2006, ongoing settler violence, and the administrative detention of Palestinians without charge or trial.

The U.S. government’s annual military aid to Israel worth $3.8 billion has made American taxpayers complicit in Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people. We urge our congressional representatives to ensure this aid is made conditional upon Israel’s compliance with international law. In addition, we call on our representatives to ensure that the rights of the Palestinian people between the River and the Sea are preserved and protected.

PAKISTAN

Over the past 75 years, Pakistan’s democratic process has been interrupted by extended periods of direct as well as indirect military rule, in contravention of Pakistan’s constitution, which emphasizes civilian supremacy.  The imbalance in civil-military relations has undermined democratic norms and practices in the country, including the rule of law, freedom of speech, independent media, and human rights protections.

Our work includes congressional engagement around these issues to ensure that the U.S. government does not pursue policies that undermine democratic principles in Pakistan.

ISLAMOPHOBIA

After 9/11, anti-Muslim sentiment in the United States reached unprecedented levels and has steadily grown since then. In the ensuing decades, successive U.S. government’s policies, both domestic and foreign, have contributed to increasing intolerance against Arabs and Muslims in the country. Since October 7th, the Council on American Islamic Relations has reported a dramatic increase in reported incidents targeting Arabs and Muslims in the United States. We believe the U.S. government must do more to mitigate the structural and societal causes of Islamophobia in this country.
